ILUSTRAWEEK and ILUSTRAFEST paints Madrid in full color while transforming the Spanish Capital into a dynamic hub for contemporary creation. Blending tradition and innovation, this colorful, multidisciplinary festival puts creators center stage. The event celebrates illustration’s growing influence across a diverse range of disciplines—from comics and animation to urban art, tattoos, and graphic humor—while uniting industries like culture, science, education, fashion, publishing, and advertising.

Led by Grupo Duende, experts in cultural innovation, and UDIT, Spain’s only university offering a degree in illustration and audiovisual studies, this open, inclusive project showcases Madrid as a global creative capital. Major landmarks like Fundación Telefónica, Ateneo de Madrid, Museo ABC, and UDIT serve as official hubs, hosting 100+ activities, including exhibitions, workshops, and talks. The festival also features urban art activations, pop-up markets, and an art trail involving 50+ venues and businesses across the city.

With over 60 national and international illustrators, partnerships with top institutions like London and NYC universities, and the support of renowned publishers like Lunwerg and El Duende magazine, ILUSTRAWEEK uplifts art to new heights. This year, the festival honors Ana Juan, the 2010 National Illustration Prize winner, celebrating both emerging talent and iconic creators. A dedicated fair will distribute 25,000 magazines across 700 points in Madrid, and the week concludes with a vibrant closing party at UDIT, Spain’s largest creative campus.
